For some reason, maybe it's the title, I set very high expectations for this book, and I was disappointed。 I liked Mateo, his voice got me, but I did not enjoy reading in Rufus's voice。 Too many "yo's" for my taste。 Also, the story had so much potential (I honestly don't know what I was hoping for, something way deeper than what I got, for sure), but the plot became corny fast。 Having the chance to say goodbye before you die is an incredible opportunity, but isn't that time better spent actually For some reason, maybe it's the title, I set very high expectations for this book, and I was disappointed。 I liked Mateo, his voice got me, but I did not enjoy reading in Rufus's voice。 Too many "yo's" for my taste。 Also, the story had so much potential (I honestly don't know what I was hoping for, something way deeper than what I got, for sure), but the plot became corny fast。 Having the chance to say goodbye before you die is an incredible opportunity, but isn't that time better spent actually living?Death is inevitable for everyone and it's absolute for me today。Because I refused to live invincibly on all days I didn't get an alert, I wasted all those yesterdays and am completely out of tomorrows。I'll be gone before I can adjust to my mortality。I've spent years living safely to secure a longer life, and look where that's gotten me。 I'm at the finish line, but I never ran the race。You may be born into a family, but you walk into friendships。 Some you'll discover you should put behind you。 Others are worth every risk。 。。。more

I could not put this book down。The title did not prepare me for the ending。I didn't cry but that was not a surprise because I am not a big crier。 But i almost did。 And more importantly I felt for Mateo and Rufus。The idea of getting a call and finding out you will die in twenty four hours is terrifying。 A part of me would not want the call, would want to not know。 But the other part of me would want to know。 To be able to see the people you want to see, do the things you want to do before you die I could not put this book down。The title did not prepare me for the ending。I didn't cry but that was not a surprise because I am not a big crier。 But i almost did。 And more importantly I felt for Mateo and Rufus。The idea of getting a call and finding out you will die in twenty four hours is terrifying。 A part of me would not want the call, would want to not know。 But the other part of me would want to know。 To be able to see the people you want to see, do the things you want to do before you die, that would be a miracle。I relate to Mateo so much, I tend to stay indoors and not adventure outside my comfort zone。 This book may chance my opinion on that。Another thing I really loved was the fact that every little action has a life lasting effect whether big or small。 The character map at the back of the book showed that beautifully。 。。。more

It was just OK until about 3/4 of the way through the book, and then it went to being actually very sweet。 I had not expected to cry considering the title gives it away, but that wasn’t really what made me cry。

I loved the concept, and was really looking forward to this book。 Unfortunately, it was so slow I literally could not get through it。

Oh my gosh!! This book。 It is one of the best books told from different povs that I have read。 By fate or destiny I was reading this book during pride month and that made me so happy and so sad at the same time。 I knew the end because the title is the biggest spoiler。 It made me really cry several times throughout the whole book。 With this book you realize how short life can truly be and how in one day your life can actually change for the better。 I identified with both main characters, I think Oh my gosh!! Honestly at first I was a bit wary to read it worrying about people overhyping it but after the first 40 pages or so I became captivated and fell in love with the characters。 The way the story was told was beautiful and even though I knew what the end result would be (their deaths) I still was put through a world wind of emotions and was surprised。 4。5/5 this is a book i would definitely reread。

Absolutely simple, uncomplicated yet this novel runs you with emotions and just hits different。The one thing I fucking adored about this book was that it was super easy to read, was so light hearted yet it was interesting and not boring as it should be。 Best of both worlds。Although it weirdly didn't make me quiver with sadness。。。 but the ending。。。 its quite amazing how we knew the two would die all along but still felt haunted when they actually did。 A weird phenomenon of emotion I still can't s Absolutely simple, uncomplicated yet this novel runs you with emotions and just hits different。The one thing I fucking adored about this book was that it was super easy to read, was so light hearted yet it was interesting and not boring as it should be。 Best of both worlds。Although it weirdly didn't make me quiver with sadness。。。 but the ending。。。 its quite amazing how we knew the two would die all along but still felt haunted when they actually did。 A weird phenomenon of emotion I still can't seem to get。 。。。more

Honestly I think I set my expectations really high on this book constantly seeing it on tiktok, but it ended up just being okay。 It had its moments being a sweet read and really made you think about your own life and taking things into your own hands not taking things for granted but overall a little anticlimactic。 I did enjoy the main characters but I found myself taking a while to finish it because of the super slow burn it was。

title told me what was gonna happen but i loved how basically everyone in the story was connected somehow。 that aspect reminds me of the movies "Valentines Day" and "New Years Eve" where each character has interacted with every other character。 story was very well written title told me what was gonna happen but i loved how basically everyone in the story was connected somehow。 that aspect reminds me of the movies "Valentines Day" and "New Years Eve" where each character has interacted with every other character。 story was very well written 。。。more

I loved this book so much, I read the whole thing in a day and cried my eyes out at the end。

this book was so sad! im surprised i didn’t cry but i felt some sympathy for these people。 i knew what i was in for by the title, but i was so emotionally attached and invested in these characters that i didn’t want it to end。 when they died i was soo sad。 but overall this book was beautifully written and so much suspense and woah moments!

5/5 starsTo keep it short and simple, this book was incredible and I didn't want it to end。 The concept is interesting, because it can be considered sci-fi, but reads much more like a contemporary, which I really liked。 It combined one, slightly-dystopian element (Death-Cast) and placed it in the present day。 The writing style was engaging; there were many moments while reading this book that I had to force myself to put it down (hence why it only took me two days to read)。This book, first and f 5/5 starsTo keep it short and simple, this book was incredible and I didn't want it to end。 The concept is interesting, because it can be considered sci-fi, but reads much more like a contemporary, which I really liked。 It combined one, slightly-dystopian element (Death-Cast) and placed it in the present day。 The writing style was engaging; there were many moments while reading this book that I had to force myself to put it down (hence why it only took me two days to read)。This book, first and foremost, was a character-driven narrative。 Mateo and Rufus are genuinely two of the best characters I have read about this year。 They are both flawed, but are good at heart。 As they learned about each other, I as the reader learned about them as well。 When an author writes with two main narrators, they sometimes sound like the same exact character in the end, but this didn't happen in They Both Die at the End 。 Mateo and Rufus had complex and complete character arcs, which is surprising since the book takes place over the course of one day。 This book lives up to the hype it has gotten on social media。 I can't wait to reread it again sometime。 :)- Lindsey 。。。more

I just finished this book and I really enjoyed it。 There was a lot of quotes in this book that really made me think about that if I died today would I be happy about how I lived my life? This book really made me want to live my life to the fullest。 I would highly recommend this book to anyone but especially to people who just need a push in life。

So, the writing wasn't bad。 It was amazing writing。 But I read this book expecting to cry, or maybe even breakdown。 Maybe I'm just cold, but I did NOT cry at all。 It definetly did teach me the lesson to live life to the fullest, and to never take life for granted, but I was not at all sad about the ending。 I was a kinda disappointed with this read。 So, the writing wasn't bad。 It was amazing writing。 But I read this book expecting to cry, or maybe even breakdown。 Maybe I'm just cold, but I did NOT cry at all。 It definetly did teach me the lesson to live life to the fullest, and to never take life for granted, but I was not at all sad about the ending。 I was a kinda disappointed with this read。 。。。more

In the novel, readers learn about the world has adapted to this information。 Apps are made to have sex with people that are dying; people trying crazy things to die for money for their families; people plan/attend their own funerals; etc。 2。 How Mateo & Rufus were able to grow as people & in their connection with one another。 Is it a little cliche they fell in love? Yes。 But at least it’s a happy ending。 Kinda。 3。 Their relationships with their friends & family。 The love felt between them all。 Things I didn’t enjoy:1。 Chapters with POV from other characters。 I thought certain characters would circle back & be involved some how in Mateo’s & Rufus’s death but they randomly weren’t。 The random chapters with random people made no sense。 Some chapters vaguely mentioned the boys in passing - it was just wasted filler。 2。 The chances with death the boys actually encountered but didn’t die。 It actually takes away from the novel;I get as the author you are trying to get your readers’ attention but like what are the chances? For example, the boys get almost blow up by a bomb in a gym & shot down by Peck on the day they are suppose to die but don’t die from this encounters。 3。 The chapters of Peck planning to kill Rufus。 Literally pointless。 Mateo does save him so I guess that helps Mateo。 4。 Knowing that the protagonist were going to die - didn’t make me more emotional。 I believe it made me less。 I didn’t cry。 Not once。 Overall, the book wasn’t bad。 It certainly wasn’t my cup of tea。 It was a quick read & engaging enough that I wasn’t bored/wanted to know what happen。 。。。more

I'm not crying。。。 You're crying! Ok, I'm crying。 And it's the ugly cry。But I honestly don't know why。 The damn title tells you EXACTLY what's going to happen。 And yet, I was ill prepared for Mateo and Rufus' untimely death。 But I sure did enjoy how they lived their last day。 So good!"Maybe it's better to have gotten it right and been happy for one day instead of living a lifetime of wrongs。" I'm not crying。。。 You're crying! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I gave this book 5 stars because I couldn’t give it 4。7! The reason why I didn’t give it 5 stars is because how are they just randomly leaving a terrorist attack scene like they just woke up from a nap? Haha that sounded a bit unrealistic to me。 The rest… my gosh! I cried like a baby and that never happens。 Totally recommend。 Original, heartbreaking, extremely deep! I enjoyed it a lot!!!
